Allah Ta'ala, The Almighty Supreme Creator says in the Holy Qur'an:
"O believers! Remember Allah much. And glorify Him morning and evening." (Surah Ahzab, verse 41-42)
Vastness Of The Word "Zikr"
The word "Zikr" means "to remember" "to remind", "to always remember", and to "mention often" etc. It is a very small word but it is like a small bowl that has captured the whole ocean. This small word has all the forms of worship and deeds hidden in it. All those actions or deeds that are done in obedience of Allah Ta'ala and His beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam and are based on the teachings of Islam is "Zikr."
Whether the actions or deeds are related to worship, (Namaz, Fasting, Zakat, Hajj etc.); or related to serving and obeying parents, respecting neighbours, respecting relatives, helping and keeping good relations with orphans and the poor, or merely keeping in mind what is permissible (Halaal) and what is non permissible (Haraam) when earning a living, then all these things are classified as "Zikr" (Remembrance).
Allah Ta'ala, the Only One worthy of worship says to His beloved sallalaho alaihe wasallam in another verse of the Qur'an,
"And remember your Lord much and praise Him at a time nearing sunset and at dawn." (Sural Aal e Imran, verse 41)
In this verse Allah Ta'ala orders His beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam to remember Him time and again. He is the most beloved to Allah Ta'ala and each of his actions are also loved by Allah Ta'ala.
Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam's remembrance of Allah Ta'ala is not only most liked by Allah Ta'ala, it is the means by which the remembrance of all others is accepted. Allah Ta'ala said to his beloved, "You keep remembering me so that everyone else's remembrance is accepted. In order for My Mercy to continue raining down on the universe due to your remembrance, here.. "And We have exalted for you, your remembrance." (Surah Inshirah, verse 4). In return for this praise, you keep remembering me."
Let us look as some more verses of the Qur'an in which Allah Ta'ala orders His beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam and all of us to always remember him.
Allah Ta'ala says, "And remember your Lord within yourself, humbly and fearfully, and without uttering a voice from the tongue, morning and evening and be not you amongst the heedless." (Surah A'raaf, verse 205)
In Surah Mozammil Allah Ta'ala says, "Therefore, remember the name of your Lord, and be of Him exclusively, leaving all others." (Surah Mozammil, verse 8)
In Surah Dahr, The Supreme Lord says, "And remember the name of your Lord morning and evening."
(Surah Dahr, verse 25).
Upon receiving these commands the beloved of Allah Ta'ala remembered Him in such a manner that the whole universe was in ecstasy. All over the earth the sound of "Ash-hado Al Laa Ilaha Illal Laah" rang out from every corner of the globe. Each action of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam was remembrance of Allah Ta'ala. His presence resounded the remembrance of Allah ta'ala. His privacy was spent in the company of the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala. His blessed tongue was always busy in remembering Allah Ta'ala. His blessed heart glowed with the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala. Each blessed hair on his blessed body was always busy in remembering Allah Ta'ala. He never forgot the remembrance of his Lord for even a second. Even when he would sleep, his blessed heart of peace was busy in remembering Allah Ta'ala. T
his condition was told to Hazrat Aisha Siddiqa radiallaho ta'ala anha, who narrated that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "My eyes sleep but my heart does not sleep."
Allah Ta'ala says, "Therefore remember Me and I will remember you, and accept My right and do not be ungrateful to me." (Surah Baqarah. Verse 152)
What a great reward for those that remember Allah Ta'ala. He Himself remembers us if we remember Him. Those that remember Allah Ta'ala at all times and in all situations, He ensures that their affairs are always in order, and He blesses them with His Benevolence. We are only remembering him on the earth, but the Owner of the Throne and the Supreme Tablet remembers us amongst his blessed Angels. He makes them witnesses and announces our forgiveness and freedom from the fire of hell.
There is a very lengthy Hadith in Bukhari shareef narrated by the famous companion, Hazrat Abu Hurairah radiallaho ta'ala anhu. The translation is being presented; you will surely become ecstatic once you have read it. Read it carefully and be proud of the kindness and favours of our Lord, and become amongst those that remember Allah Ta'ala.
Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "There are certain Angels who roam the earth looking for gatherings where Allah Ta'ala is being remembered. When they find such a gathering they call each other and say come we have found out what we came for. They cover the people in the gathering with their wings (out of love and affection). Then they return to the court of Allah Ta'ala. Allah Ta'ala asks then where they have been even though Allah Ta'ala knows well what his slaves were doing. (But He wants to hear about those that are remembering Him from the Angels).
The Angles reply, "O Lord! Your bondmen were remembering You, they were glorifying You, they were praising You, and they were talking about Your Majesty. Allah Ta'ala says, Have they seen Me? The Angels reply O Lord! They have not seen You.
Allah Ta'ala says, what would their state be if they were to see Me? The Angels reply, If they were to see You, they would worship You even more and would exalt You even more and would praise You more.
Allah Ta'ala says, What were they asking for from Me? The Angels reply, They are asking for Paradise.
Have they seen Paradise? Allah Ta'ala asks the Angels. No, reply they Angels. Allah Ta'ala says, what if they were to see Paradise? The Angels reply, if they were to see Paradise they would be very eager to obtain it. They would desire it greatly and their ambition would be intensified.
Allah Ta'ala then says, What were they seeking refuge from? The Angels reply, the fire of hell.
Have they seen hell? Asks Allah Ta'ala. The Angels once again reply, O Lord! They have not seen hell. Allah Ta'ala says, what if they were to see hell? The Angels say, If they were to see it they would run away from it, and be more afraid of it." Allah Ta'ala says, O Angels! I am making you witness that I have forgiven them all.
The Angels say, "O Allah! There was one amongst them who was not remembering you, he had gone there for some other reason.
Allah Ta'ala says, "The one that sits with them is not forsaken, I have forgiven him also." (Bukhari Shareef)
Deeds That Take You Towards Paradise
Hazrat Ibn Abbas radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrates that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said "On the day of judgement the people who will be called towards paradise first will be those that praise (remember) Allah in happiness and sadness" (Baihiqi 343)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! Most people forget Allah Ta'ala during happiness, whereas it should be that Allah Ta'ala should be remembered and thanked more during happiness. The friends of Allah (Aulia Allah's) used to remember Allah Ta'ala more during happiness so that Allah Ta'ala would be pleased. If a person remembers Allah Ta'ala during happiness then Allah Ta'ala removes difficulties and sadness from that bondman and increases happiness. This is because happiness and sadness are both from Allah Ta'ala. A person should believe this and accept, that whatever the will of Allah Ta'ala, I will be pleased with it. When a bondman, who is weak, is pleased with the will of Allah Ta'ala, then Allah Ta'ala looks upon such a person with blessings and gives him the glad tidings of Jannah.
May Allah Ta'ala through the sadqa of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam give us the guidance to remember Him at all times. Aameen.
Reward Of 100 Hajj
Hazrat Umar Bin Shoaib reported from his father who reported from his father that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "Whoever recited Subhan Allah 100 times in the morning & 100 times in the evening, it will be like he has performed 100 Hajj. And whoever recited "Alhamdo Lillah" 100 times in the morning & 100 times in the evening it will be like he gave 100 horses as charity in the path of Allah Ta'ala. He who recited "La Ilaha Illal Laah" 100 times in the morning & 100 times in the evening it will be like he has freed 100 slaves from amongst the children of Hazrat Ismail alaihis salaam. He who recited "Allah O Akbar" 100 times in the morning & 100 times in the evening, then no-one will be able to do more good deeds than him on that day, other than he who recited the same amount or more." (Mishkaat, Vol 2, page 346)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! By reciting Subhan Allah 100 times in the morning & 100 times in the evening we are given the glad tidings of reward of 100 Hajj. This means that a person that does this will get the reward of 100 voluntary (Nafil) Hajj. Remember that reward for performing Hajj & actually performing Hajj are two different things. Here reward is mentioned, therefore no one must think that I will recite Subhan Allah 100 times in the morning and evening and it will be like I have done 100 Hajj, so why do I need to spend thousands of pounds and withstand any difficulties or troubles.
This is not the case; the compulsory (Farz) Hajj must be performed. For example a doctor may state that a tablet has the same energy level as a plate of food. However a person can not eat a pill two times a day and be satisfied. Undoubtedly the reward for certain rosaries (tasbeehs) are immense. This has also been mentioned in the Holy Qur'an, (Those that spend their wealth in the path of Allah, their similarity is like that seed which sprouted 7 roots, each root produced 100 grains, & Allah Ta'ala will reward even more than that to those whom he wishes). My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! There is no shortage in the court of Allah Ta'ala. He is the Generous, Forgiving, Bountiful, and Merciful One & therefore we should have faith in His Grace.
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! By reciting Alhamdo Lillah 100 times in the morning & evening Allah Ta'ala gives reward equivalent to donating 100 horses for jihad. This means that striving in the path of Allah Ta'ala is a means of remembering Allah Ta'ala. A believer does not strive, fight for land or worldly gains, rather he fights to remove obstacles that are preventing the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala, & praising Allah Ta'ala is definitely more superior than 100 holy wars (Jihad).
It is stated that whoever recites La Ilaha Illal Laah 100 times in the morning and evening, it is better than freeing 100 slaves from the children of Hazrat Ismail alaihis salaam. The children of Hazrat Ismail alaihis salaam means 100 people from the Arabian Peninsula, as they are all children of Hazrat Ismail alaihis salaam. They are linked and closer to Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam so therefore it is better to bestow favours on them.
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! If we can obtain such rewards by making a small sacrifice then we should not be lazy. May Allah Ta'ala give us the guidance to spend our time in His remembrance. Aameen
Proper Use of the Tongue
Hazrat Umm E Habeeba radiallao ta'ala anha narrated that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said "Every word of the children of Adam is calamity for him. It gives him no benefit except those words used to invite to good and forbid from evil and those words said in the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala" (Ibn Majah)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! Keeping the tongue silent is very difficult. Therefore do not say anything from the tongue that does not bring reward in this world and the hereafter. Each word that has no goodness in it is a ruin, and which are the best words to have on our tongues? It has been stated that "to order to good, to forbid from evil and to remember Allah Ta'ala". Therefore, My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! Keep ordering towards good & forbidding from evil. Along with this, keep remembering Allah Ta'ala.
May Allah Ta'ala give us the guidance to do this. Aameen
Angels Present In A Gathering
Hazrat Abu Hurairah radiallaho ta'ala anhu reports on the authority of Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri radiallaho ta'ala anhu that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "When any group sits together to remember Allah Ta'ala, Angels surround them. Mercy covers them. Peace and contentment descends on them. Allah Ta'ala mentions these people amongst the angels that are close to him." (Muslim Shareef)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! People enjoy sitting with friends & family and talking. Some talk about worldly matters, others talk about politics. Everyone likes to talk about things that they like. However those fortunate bondmen, who sit together just for remembering Allah Ta'ala, and remembering His Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam, then the Angels of Mercy of Allah Ta'ala, surround such people. The Mercy of Allah Ta'ala covers them, peace, contentment descends on them & Allah Ta'ala remembers them amongst Angels. May Allah Ta'ala give us all the opportunity to sit in such gatherings. Aameen.
Become Deserving of a Pulpit of Pearls
Hazrat Abu Darda radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrates that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said "On the day of judgement, certain peoples' faces will be gleaming with light (Noor). They will be on pulpits (mimbars) of pearls. Others will be envious of them. They will not be Prophets or martyrs." Someone asked, "Yaa Rasool Allah, sallalaho alaihe wasallam, who are these people so that we may recognise them?" Rasool Allah, sallalaho alaihe wasallam replied, "they are those who came from different places, from different tribes, and came together in one place and stayed busy in the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala." (Tibraani Shareef)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! We should travel for the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala and should participate in gatherings of the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala. Do not think that if my friends/neighbours are there I will go, no, but if Allah Ta'ala gives guidance then we should go wherever He is remembered. However, ensure that it is a correct faith (aqeedah) gathering. In other words an Ahl E Sunnah Wa'l Jama'at gathering. Allah Ta'ala willing, according to the Hadith of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam, the reward will be such that peoples faces will be glowing with light and will be seated on pulpits of pearls and others will envy these people. Subhan Allah.
May Allah Ta'ala, through the sadqa of His Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam include us amongst these fortunate people. Aameen
Way To Obtain Freedom From Punishment
Hazrat Muaz Ibn Jabal radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrates that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "None of the deeds of the children of Adam can save him from the punishment of Allah Ta'ala except the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala." (Malik, Tirmizi, Ibn Majah)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! Together with firmness of faith, we must keep busy in the remembrance of Allah, because the acceptance of deeds is dependent on faith. Together with faith the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala is the path to salvation. In the above Hadith it is stated that safety from punishment is obtained through the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala. In other words, if we want freedom from the trials & tribulations in this world and the hereafter then we must remember Allah Ta'ala. May Allah Ta'ala, through His remembrance save us all from trials and tribulations in this world and the hereafter. Aameen
Friendship With Those Who Remember Allah Ta'ala Day and Night
Hazrat Abdur Rehman bin Sahal bin Hanif radiallaho ta'ala anhu was in the blessed house of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam, when the following verse was revealed, "Be punctual in sitting amongst those people who call upon their Lord day and night." After this verse was revealed, Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam went out in search for such people. He saw a group who were busy in the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala. Some of these people had ruffled hair, had dry lips (from hunger / thirst), and only had one piece of cloth covering them. When Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam saw them he sat amongst them and said, "All praise is for Allah Ta'ala who created such people in my followers (ummah) that I have been ordered to sit amongst them." (Tibraani Shareef)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! From this Hadith we see that we should sit in the company of those who keep busy in the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala, we should benefit from their company and their closeness. Undoubtedly, success in this world and the hereafter is for those who remember Allah Ta'ala day and night. It is for this reason that Allah Ta'ala has ordered us to sit in their company. Unfortunately, the sinful Muslims of today will search for gatherings where movies are being discussed, and not only this, but they take pride and boast about their contacts and relations with those that spend no time in the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala.
Fear Allah Ta'ala, save yourselves from such gatherings where Allah Ta'ala and His Beloved sallalaho alaihe wasallam are not remembered. What answer will you give to Allah Ta'ala on the day of Reckoning when he asks you what you did with your life? When Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam would go in the company of those that were remembering Allah Ta'ala, their hair would be untidy and ruffled, their lips dry, and they only had one piece of cloth. They were so busy in the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala that they spent only the minimum amount of time attending to their needs and spent the vast majority of their time remembering Allah Ta'ala. May we be sacrificed on their status. That is why when Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam saw them he thanked and praised Allah Ta'ala.
Keep Tongue Moist With the Remembrance of Allah Ta'ala
Hazrat Abdullah bin Bushar radiallaho ta'ala anhu reports that one person came to Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam and said, "Islam has placed upon me many orders. Tell me one deed that I can do all the time and be punctual in it. Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said "Keep your tongue moist with the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala" (Tirmizi)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! The companions used to constantly strive towards rewards and good deeds. That is why, after completing their obligatory duties, they were always searching for ways to keep busy earning rewards. The questions that were asked by the companions are of great benefit to us sinners in that, we find out how to spend our lives.
In the above Hadith Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam has stated, that always keep your tongue moist with the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala. This means that never keep your mind and heart empty. As much time as you have available, after completing your duties and obligations, stay busy in the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala. This remembrance will be the avenue for your success in both worlds. May Allah Ta'ala guide us all. Aameen
Emphasising The Remembrance of Allah Ta'ala
Hazrat Ibn Umar radiallaho ta'ala anhuma narrates that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "Do not keep your conversations vacant of the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala, because your conversations without remembrance is a sign of a cold, hard heart, and a hard heart results in alienation from Allah Ta'ala." (Tirmizi Shareef)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! A person's tongue only stays quiet at night when sleeping. Other than that, it is constantly being used. When we meet people all day, we talk about good and bad things but by emphasising the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala in our conversations, Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam, has shown us how to attain reward for remembering Allah Ta'ala during our conversations. It is necessary that we refrain from useless and unnecessary chat, as this leads to a cold heart and we move away from Allah Ta'ala.
Shaitaan desires that we busy ourselves in idle chat and move far away from Allah Ta'ala. Now if we keep our tongues busy in the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala, then shaitaan will be disgraced and Allah Ta'ala will be pleased. Try to ensure that no conversation is void of the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala and His Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam. May Allah Ta'ala give us all the guidance to do this. Aameen
Remembrance of Allah Ta'ala is a great Treasure
Hazrat Thaubaan radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrates that when the ayah "Wal lazeena yaknezoonaz zahaba wa'l fiddata..." was revealed, we were on a journey with Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam. At that time some companions said, "this ayah refers to gold and silver. If we were to know which is better we would obtain that." Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said "the best treasure is a tongue that is busy in the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala and a heart that is busy thanking Allah Ta'ala, and a Muslim's wife who helps him in faith." (Ahmed, Tirmizi, Ibn Majah)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! Today's Muslims think that worldly goods/materials are the greatest wealth. They remain busy trying to accumulate worldly goods and money. If he does not have wealth, he begins to complain. He thinks that if I have wealth and a fashionable wife then I have it all. However, our Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam has said that the best wealth is a tongue that's busy in the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala and that one should thank Allah Ta'ala under all circumstances and wish for such a wife that will help you in faith. Instead of a modern wife, we should search for a pious, obedient, and loving wife. Women should also attempt to stop their husbands from going towards evil, and try to instil the love of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam in their husbands, and do good deeds themselves and direct their husbands towards good deeds. May Allah Ta'ala keep our tongues busy in His remembrance, our hearts busy thanking Him, and give all of us pious spouses who help us in our faith. Aameen
Together With Allah Ta'ala
Hazrat Abu Hurairah radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrate that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "When a person moves his lips to remember Allah, then Allah Ta'ala is with him." (Bukhari)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! How much grace does Allah Ta'ala bestow on us, that he wants to bless us with His closeness. If we move our lips and tongues to remember him then we obtain His Grace & Mercy. That is why our pious predecessors say that on the day of judgement, we will regret those moments that we spent in this world without remembering Allah Ta'ala. People will regret and think, "alas, I wish I had spent that time in the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala."
Understand the value of our time and obtain the Grace and Mercy of Allah Ta'ala by remembering Him constantly. Today Muslims spend more time on getting dressed, and getting well groomed, than on remembering Allah Ta'ala. For the sake of Allah Ta'ala, search out those gatherings where Allah Ta'ala is remembered. Please sacrifice some time to remember Allah Ta'ala and His Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam and you will see the benefits of this in this world and the hereafter, Insha Allah. May Allah Ta'ala guide us all to participate in gatherings of remembrance. Aameen
Entitled to the Intercession of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam
The Kalima is the means to obtain the intercession of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam. On the day of judgement, with Allah Ta'ala's command, Prophets, Martyrs, and the friends of Allah Ta'ala will intercede on behalf of Muslims. Through this Allah Ta'ala will forgive many sinners. The greatest right, and the highest status of intercession is reserved for the Mercy to all the worlds, the Light of the Universe, the Beloved of Allah Ta'ala sallalaho alaihe wasallam. Whoever has recited the Kalima with heart and tongue, Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam will intercede for him. The evidence of this is in the following Hadith.
Hazrat Abu Hurairah radiallaho ta'ala anhu asked, "Yaa Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam, who will be entitled to your intercession on the day of judgement?" Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam replied, "Oh Abu Hurairah, based on your interest in my Ahadith, I knew that you would be the first to ask this question. My intercession will be for him who with sincerity of heart and mind says Laa Ilaha Illal Laah" (Bukhari)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! Kalima e Tayyiba makes a person worthy of the intercession of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam. When no one will help another on the day of judgement, those that have recited Kalima will find help with the intercession of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam. How can anyone understand or comprehend the intercession and the status of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam?
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam is more loving and helpful than thousands of helpers. In this world and the hereafter, after Allah Ta'ala's Grace and Blessings, the person who has bestowed the most blessings and grace upon us is our Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam. Therefore recite the Kalima with sincerity and obtain the right to be interceded for. May Allah Ta'ala guide us. Aameen
Blessings of the Kalima at the Time of Death
At the time of death, reciting Kalima e Tayyiba removes the pain and pangs of death. By reciting the Kalima our death is with faith and the soul leaves the body easily. In this regard there is the following Hadith of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam.
Hazrat Yahya bin Talha bin Abdullah radiallaho ta'ala anhuma narrates that upon seeing Hazrat Talha radiallaho ta'ala anhu sad & distressed people asked, "What is the problem?" He replied, "I heard Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam say that if one says some words then the pains of death are removed from him, his face will be bright and he will be at ease. However I did not have the audacity to ask him what those words were." Hazrat Umar Radiallaho ta'ala anhu said "Definitely I know what those words are." Hazrat Talha radiallaho ta'ala anhu asked, "What are they?" Hazrat Umar radiallaho ta'ala anhu replied " I know that there are no words greater than those that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam presented to his uncle (Abu Taalib) and those words are La Ilaha Illal Laah." Hazrat Talha radiallaho ta'ala anhu asked, "are those the words?" Hazrat Umar radiallaho ta'ala anhu said, "By Allah, those are the words." (Baihiqi)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! The pain at the time of death is undoubtedly very severe. It has been reported that the pain, when the soul leaves the body is more painful than being stabbed 360 times with a sword.
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved admirers, Kalima e Tayyiba (La Ilaha Illal Laah Muhammad Ur Rasool Allah) sallalaho alaihe wasallam is the means to freedom from the pangs of death. Therefore, make it a habit to always recite the Kalima and be free from this pain. May Allah Ta'ala keep us all free from the pain at the time of death and give us death on Imaan in the blessed city of Madinah. Aameen
Pillars of Light Intercede for Recitors of the Kalima
There are many things that also seek forgiveness, for those that recite the Kalima. What does Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam say about this? Let's study the following Hadith.
Hazrat Abu Hurairah radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrates that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "Undoubtedly, opposite the Throne (Arsh) of Allah Ta'ala is a pillar of light. Whenever someone recites La Ilaha Illal Laah that pillar starts to shake. Allah Ta'ala says "Stop", the pillar says, "How can I stop? The person that recited Kalima has not been forgiven yet. Allah Ta'ala says, "I have forgiven that person." Then the pillar stops shaking."
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! What can be a greater benefit than the fact if we recite the Kalima, the pillar of light starts to shake and asks for the recitor's forgiveness. We realise that everything loves those that recite the Kalima. We should keep the tongue that Allah Ta'ala has blessed us with busy in His remembrance so that all the creations of Allah Ta'ala seek our forgiveness. May Allah Ta'ala give us the guidance to do this. Aameen
Intercession of the Throne (Arsh)
In one narration it is reported that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam was delivering a lecture on the pulpit (Mimbar) when a Bedouin arrived. He said, "I am a great sinner and also have a lot of jealousy in me." Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam told him to sit down. When the lecture was completed Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam called the Bedouin. He presented his plight. Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam asked him, " Are your sins more than the number of stars?" He replied "Yes." He was then asked "Are your sins greater than grains of sand in the desert?" "Yes", he replied.
"Are your sins more than the raindrops?" "Yes" was the reply from the Bedouin.
"Are your sins more than the number of leaves on the trees?" Once again the reply was "Yes"
"Are your sins greater than the Mercy of Allah Ta'ala?" The Bedouin stayed quiet for a long time and then began to cry. Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said "Do not despair, recite La Ilaha Illal Laah and all your sins will be forgiven, no matter how many sins you have." Then he stated "If anyone recites La Ilaha Illal Laah night and day, in such a manner that he stretches the "Laa"(with a madh), then Allah Ta'ala forgives sins equivalent to 4000 years. When one recites this, the Throne of Allah Ta'ala starts to move. Allah Ta'ala orders "O throne, be still." The Throne says "Oh Allah, forgive the recitor of the Kalima so that I can be at peace." Allah Ta'ala then says, " I have forgiven him."
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! If we look at our lives and try to count our sins, then I believe that we will feel that our whole life has been spent in sins. However Allah's Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam is comforting us by telling us that Allah Ta'ala's Mercy is greater than anything else is. He is telling us that the Mercy of Allah Ta'ala is supreme, so come and recite Kalima sincerely and Allah Ta'ala will forgive your past sins. The whole Kalima has great blessings, even just the first part (Laa) that is stretched, results in our Lord forgiving 4000 years of sins. Here to recite Kalima means to first sincerely ask for forgiveness and promise not to commit sins in the future.
Subhan Allah, very fortunate are those people that constantly recite Kalima and remember Allah Ta'ala. May Allah Ta'ala bestow on us the blessings of the Kalima and make us worthy of His Mercy. Aameen
Remedy for safety from the Fire of Hell
Hazrat Umar radiallaho ta'ala anhu states that I heard Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam say, "I know one order, and whoever accepts that with his heart and says it with the tongue and dies in this state, then he will be free from the fire of hell, and that is Laa Ilaha Illal Laah" ( Al-Haakim)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! This means that whoever, as well as reciting Laa Ilaha Illal Laah Muhammad Ur Rasool Allah also believes in Allah Ta'ala as his Lord, believes in Him as the Provider, as The Sustainer, has faith in all the Attributes of Allah Ta'ala, and believes in Him with the right faith, and believes in Muhammad Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam as the final Prophet of Allah Ta'ala and remains steadfast and firm in this, then if all these conditions are met then Insha Allah he will be free from the fire of hell. May Allah Ta'ala keep us firm and steadfast on the true path. Aameen
Hellfire Will Be Unlawful (Haraam)
Hazrat Utbaan bin Malik radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrates that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "Whoever comes on the day of judgement reciting Kalima for the pleasure of Allah Ta'ala, on him the fire of hell will be made unlawful."
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! From this Hadith we learn that Kalima should also be recited to please Allah Ta'ala. Rather all deeds should be done for the pleasure of Allah Ta'ala. Showing off is much disliked by Allah Ta'ala, one who is guilty of this will not even smell the sweet fragrance of paradise. The person who does things in this world for the pleasure of Allah Ta'ala, and makes it a habit to constantly recite the Kalima, then such a person will also arrive on the day of judgement reciting the Kalima. Allah Ta'ala with His grace and blessings will make the fire of hell unlawful on that person. May Allah Ta'ala give us the guidance to recite Kalima with sincerity. Aameen
Allah Ta'ala Will Make Hell Unlawful
Hazrat Anas bin Malik radiallaho ta'ala anhu reports that one time Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam was travelling with Hazrat Muaz bin Jabal radiallaho ta'ala anhu following him. Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "O Muaz" He replied "I am at your service Yaa Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam." Again Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said "O Muaz." He replied with the same response. Three times Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam called him like this and then said " If anyone testifies with their heart that nobody is worthy of worship except Allah ta'ala, and that Muhammad sallalaho alaihe wasallam is the Prophet of Allah Ta'ala, then Allah Ta'ala will make hell unlawful on him."
Hazrat Muaz radiallaho ta'ala anhu asked " can I tell this to the people so that they may be happy?" Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam replied, "If you tell them now, then people will depend on this and will not do their deeds." Hazrat Muaz radiallaho ta'ala anhu only narrated this at the time of his passing away. (Bukhari Shareef)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! Why did Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam call Hazrat Muaz radiallaho ta'ala anhu three times? This was done so that the significance and importance of what was about to be said would not be underestimated. The oneness of Allah Ta'ala must be believed from the heart and not just the tongue. The belief in Muhammad Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam as the Beloved Prophet of Allah Ta'ala and to testify to this must also be done in this manner. When a person does this, Allah Ta'ala makes hell unlawful on that person.
The reason that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam stopped Hazrat Muaz radiallaho ta'ala anhu from informing others is that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam did not want people to stop other forms of worship (Ibadah) and good deeds. We see from this that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam desires that through worship, his ummah attains a high status and peace on the day of judgement. This is why Hazrat Muaz radiallaho ta'ala anhu waited until close to his passing away to report this Hadith. May Allah Ta'ala guide us to perform much worship. Aameen
Kalima E Tayyiba- Key to Paradise
Kalima E Tayyiba is the key to paradise. Who ever has this key will enter paradise. The following Hadith explains this.
Hazrat Muaz radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrates that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "To say Laa Ilaha Illal Laah Muhammad Ur Rasool Allah is the key to paradise." (Ahmed)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! This Hadith tells us that those who do not have faith will not enter paradise. Paradise is for believers, it is for those that believe and recite the Kalima. He who recites it with sincerity, stays firm on it and leaves this world in that state, will be deserving of paradise.
The Kalima has been called the key to paradise so that those that recite it would realise and know that if we stay firm on this then Allah Ta'ala will grant us this great bounty (Ne'mah), which we have never seen, and which is impossible to emulate or copy in this world. Therefore, together with the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala, have faith in the bounties of Allah Ta'ala. May Allah Ta'ala guide us all. Aameen
Testimony of Stones
One time Hazrat Ibrahim Waasti was in the plains of Arafah. He had seven pebbles in his hand. He said "Oh stones, be witness that I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah Ta'ala and that Muhammad sallalaho alaihe wasallam is the Prophet of Allah." That night when he slept he saw that it is qayamah. The accounting of deeds is being done. After a few people it is soon to be his turn. He was not successful and was ordered into hell. The angels took hold of him and led him towards hell. They arrived at one of the doors of hell. One of those seven pebbles blocked the path to the door of hell. The angles of punishment tried to move this pebble but were unsuccessful. This happened at all seven doors of hell. Finally the angels took this person to the court of Allah Ta'ala. Allah Ta'ala said "you made those pebbles your witness and today they were loyal to you and were not disloyal. Oh my bondman, I, myself also testify to your statement of tauheed and prophethood, and in return I will grant you paradise''. Hazrat Ibrahim says that when I got to paradise the doors were closed. Suddenly a voice was heard saying 'Laa Ilaha Illal Laah' and the doors opened and I entered paradise.
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! Remember Allah Ta'ala loudly so that our voices reach all over the world. The walls and buildings will testify on our behalf on the day of judgement. Therefore do not be lazy in remembering Allah Ta'ala. Refrain from sins, otherwise the places where we commit sins will testify against us in the court of Allah Ta'ala. Remember Allah Ta'ala much and make every part of the earth and all creations your witness, and always refrain from sins.
May Allah Ta'ala guide us all. Aameen
Key To The Heavens
One of the miracles of the Kalima is that the doors of the heavens open out of respect and reverence for the recitor of the Kalima. In this regard it is reported on the authority of Hazrat Abu Hurairah radiallaho ta'ala anhu that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said "There is no one who recites the Kalima, for whom the doors of paradise do not open up. Rather this Kalima goes straight up to the Throne of Allah Ta'ala, provided that the recitor refrains from large sins." (Tirmizi Shareef)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved admirers, Kalima is the key to the heavens, and goes straight to the Throne. If one refrains from large sins and recites Kalima, then the door of the heavens open up for him. Therefore recite it in abundance. Insha Allah you will get benefit in both worlds. This Kalima will reach the Throne (Arsh) and intercede for us. May Allah Ta'ala guide us all to this. Aameen
Kalima Keeps Faith Fresh
Keeping faith fresh means to always remember and turn towards Allah Ta'ala. In other words, we should always have love of Allah Ta'ala and also fear of Allah Ta'ala in our hearts. Man should never forsake Allah Ta'ala in favour of anyone else. This will not happen if we recite the Kalima constantly and that is why it has been stated that recite the Kalima as it keeps faith fresh and vibrant.
Hazrat Abu Hurairah radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrated that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "Keep your faith fresh and strong." The companions asked "How do we do that?" The Beloved Of Allah Ta'ala replied " recite Laa Ilaha Illal Laah constantly." (Ahmed, Tibraani)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! There are so many wrong statements and words that come out of our mouths. Sometimes by mistake, words of infidelity (Kufr), comes out of our mouths and we do not even realise. Therefore act upon this saying of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam so that our faith stays fresh. When you sleep at night and when you wake up, make it a habit to always recite the Kalima. Insha Allah you will definitely see the reward for this as the final thing on our lips at night will be the Kalima and the first thing when we wake up will be the Kalima. This will definitely please our Lord, our Master, and our Creator. May Allah Ta'ala guide us all. Aameen
The Best Branch of Faith
Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam has said, "There are more than seventy (70) branches of faith. The best of them is Kalima e Tayyiba, the smallest is to remove obstruction from the path and modesty (sharm o haya) is also a branch of faith." (Bukhari)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! All good deeds are dependent on faith. Faith is in actual fact the root and good deeds are the branches. Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam has said faith (Iman) has over seventy branches. The best is Laa Ilaha Illal Laah, in other words, in rewards it is most superior. This is because with this a person is negating all deities except Allah Ta'ala and believes in Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam as the Prophet. Therefore recite Kalima in abundance, remove items of trouble or destruction from people's path and always observe shyness. May Allah Ta'ala guide us all. Aameen
Keep Faith Fresh
Hazrat Anas radiallaho ta'ala anhu reports that "One day Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam climbed a hill in Arafah. He then prayed 2 rak'ats Namaz and whilst facing the Qiblah kept reciting the Kalima. He continued reciting and his blessed eyes were full of tears. The blessed beard and blessed chest became wet and the blessed tears fell on the ground. On seeing this, Hazrat Anas radiallaho ta'ala anhu, also started to cry. After some time Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam looked at me and enquired" "O Anas, why are you crying?" I replied "O Master, upon seeing you crying, I also cried." Rasool Allah then stated "Happiness for him who has Kalima on his tongue and his eyes are full of tears (because this keeps faith fresh)."
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! Whether it is Kalima or any other words with which we are remembering Allah Ta'ala, we must be mindful that we do it sincerely and with a true intention. Fear of Allah Ta'ala must be kept in mind and try to make sure that whilst we are remembering so that our eyes are moist with tears. This is also a Sunnah of our beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam and each action of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam is worship. When Hazrat Anas radiallaho ta'ala anhu cried after seeing Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam with tears in his blessed eyes, he was given the glad tidings that to have moist eyes when remembering Allah Ta'ala is very much liked by our Lord and by his beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam. May Allah Ta'ala guide us all. Aameen
Safety From the Deceit of Shaitaan
In order to keep people busy in sins, shaitaan has laid traps all around us. Kalima is a great means to avoid his traps and temptations. Hazrat Abu Bakr radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrates that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "Recite Laa Ilaha Illal Laah and Istigfaar in abundance. Shaitaan says I am trying to destroy people by taking them towards sins and they are ruining me with these words. When I saw this, I ruined them with a cyclone of desires and they think they are being guided." (Jami Al Sageer)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! Shaitaan, who is our greatest enemy, does not forget us for a moment. It's amazing that we have completely forgotten him. He has laid traps of deceit and desire and temptation all around so that we become trapped in his schemes but may we be sacrificed on the Mercy of our Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam. He has given us the tools to avoid his traps and they are the Kalima and Istigfaar in abundance. This is a great tool to disgrace and defeat shaitaan. May Allah Ta'ala guide us all. Aameen
The Words Of Freedom
Hazrat Uthmaan Ghani radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrates that, "The passing away of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam had such a profound and disturbing affect on the companions that many different thoughts entered the minds of certain companions." He states that he was amongst those people. "
One time Hazrat Umar radiallaho ta'ala anhu came to me and greeted me but I did not realise that he had greeted me. He complained to Hazrat Abu Bakr radiallaho ta'ala anhu, who asked me, "You did not reply to your brother Umar's salaam?" I replied that I did not do this. Hazrat Umar radiallaho ta'ala anhu said this is exactly what happened. I said, "I did not even know that you had come and neither did I hear your salaam." Hazrat Abu Bakr radiallaho ta'ala anhu said "You must have been busy in some thought and that is why you did not hear." I replied "I was busy in thought." "What was it you were thinking about?" enquired Hazrat Abu Bakr radiallaho ta'ala anhu. I said "Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam has left us and we did not ask him what will lead to salvation." Hazrat Abu Bakr radiallaho ta'ala anhu said, "I have asked that question to Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam." Hazrat Uthmaan states that "I got up and said, may my parents be sacrificed on you, definitely you were more worthy of asking this question." Hazrat Abu Bakr radiallaho ta'ala anhu said, "When I asked what will lead to salvation, Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam replied, he who accepts what I presented to my uncle, (Abu Taalib), that will lead to salvation." (Ahmed)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! May we be sacrificed on the status of the companions, (may Allah Ta'ala be pleased with all of them). How many favours have they bestowed on us? They always used to think and worry about forgiveness and freedom and through their questions we obtain the tools for obtaining freedom. If they did not ask the questions, then how would we have known what to do? Sayyedina Abu Bakr radiallaho ta'ala anhu asked what leads to salvation and Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said to accept the Kalima. To believe in the worship of one Allah Ta'ala and to believe in His Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam. Therefore stay firm on our faith and keep the Kalima always on our lips and tongues. May Allah Ta'ala give us all death with faith. Aameen
Narrative
Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi radiallaho ta'ala anhu says that I left home to perform Hajj. I pointed my mount towards the Qiblah and set off. However my mount (horse) took me to a city in the Roman empire called Constantinople. I tried to get it to go towards the Ka'aba but it would not go there. When I reached Constantinople I saw a large group of people who were talking to each other. I enquired as to their situation and they informed me that the king's daughter had gone insane and they were searching for a doctor.
I told them that I would cure her. I was taken to the King's palace, when I reached the door I heard a voice from inside saying "How long will you stop your mount from coming towards me when it was bringing you to me?" When I stepped inside I saw a beautiful woman who was tied in chains and restrained. She said "Please cure me, give me some medicine that will cure me and I regain my normal senses. I told her to recite Laa Ilaha Illal Laah Muhammad Ur Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam. She recited it aloud. As soon as she did, the chains broke and fell off. The King was shocked and said, "By Allah, what a beautiful and successful doctor. You have cured my daughter and eliminated her illness." I said to the King, "You also recite the Kalima and the disease of kufr (infidelity) will be removed from you." He did this and accepted Islam. Upon seeing this amazing power of the Kalima, untold numbers of the king's subjects accepted Islam in the town. (Nuzhatul Majaalis)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved admirers, if an infidel can recite the Kalima and be blessed with faith, what if a believer recites the Kalima, will he not receive freedom from the hellfire, and will he not receive untold Mercies of Allah Ta'ala? Undoubtedly he will. Recite Kalima in abundance and obtain the benefits and become rich with the blessings. May Allah Ta'ala give us all guidance. Aameen
Kalima E Tayyiba is the Heaviest Phrase
Allah Ta'ala is all-powerful and has power and control over all things, therefore, His name has no peer and is not comparable. In this same way, whoever recites His Kalima can have power over all things on the earth and the heavens. Hazrat Ibn Abbas radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrates that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "I swear by Him who controls my life, if the earth and the heavens, and all that is in them and all that is between them, and all that is below them, if all of that was put on one side of a weigh scale, and the Kalima was placed on the other side, then the Kalima would be heavier." (Tibraani Shareef)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! Can anyone's name be greater than the name of Allah Ta'ala? Undoubtedly, whichever side has the name of our Lord and the name of His Beloved will always be the heavier side. Recite Kalima constantly so that our weigh scale will be heavier on the day of judgement. May Allah Ta'ala give us all the rightful guidance. Aameen
Remembered In A Better Gathering
Hazrat Abu Hurairah radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrated that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "Allah states, I am as my bondman thinks of me. When my bondman remembers me, I am with him. If he remembers me quietly, in his mind, then I also remember him alone. If he remembers me in a gathering, I remember him in a better gathering." (Muslim, Bukhari)
In other words, however one thinks and hopes from Allah Ta'ala that's how he will be treated. This means that if a bondman hopes for his prayers to be accepted the Allah Ta'ala will, by His grace & blessings, accept his prayers.
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! Do good deeds and hope and wish for acceptance from Allah Ta'ala. Remember when a person remembers Allah Ta'ala, he is very close to Allah Ta'ala. One who always remembers Him is always close to Him. To remember Allah quietly means to remember him in our mind, heart, on our own. In this case Allah Ta'ala also remembers us quietly, on his own. However, if a person gathers some others and together they remember Allah Ta'ala loudly, then they are remembered out loud by Allah Ta'ala and this remembrance is heard by Angels, Prophets and the friends of Allah (Auliya Allah's). Subhan Allah
We Muslims should ensure that we remember Allah Ta'ala out loud with other believers, so that we are remembered in the gatherings of Prophets and the friends of Allah Ta'ala. May Allah Ta'ala give us all the guidance to do this. Aameen
Alhamdo Lillah to obtain this excellent blessing, in Sunni Dawat e Islami's ijtema, held each Saturday, the slaves of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam do Zikr (remembrance) of their Lord in a loud voice. Participate in gatherings of remembrance and obtain countless blessings.
The Best Deed for Freedom
Hazrat Abu Hurairah radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrates that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "Whoever recites Subhan Allahe Wa Behamdehee 100 times daily, all his sins will be forgiven. Even if his sins are equal to waves in the sea." (Muslim, Bukhari)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! Whether you recite this all together, or some in the morning and some at night, it is all acceptable. However we recite it 100 times, it is acceptable but recite it we must and obtain forgiveness and freedom from punishment. By sins it refers to small sins that are against the Rights of Allah Ta'ala (Huqooq-Allah). The rights of Shariah (Islamic Law) and the rights of people are separate to this. Missed salah (Namaz), fasts, wronging others etc. will not be forgiven by reciting these wazeefas (religious broods). Those will have to be made up and the wrongs corrected or forgiven by that person that you have wronged. May Allah Ta'ala give us the guidance to pray Namaz, fast and respect the rights of others as well as always remember Him. Aameen
Blessings Descend
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! The reason for us being here is for the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala. All the creations are busy in His remembrance. It's astonishing that humans are the best of creations but they are forgetful of the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala. I will explain some of the virtues of remembering Allah Ta'ala.
Allah Ta'ala states in the Holy Qur'an, "Wazkorullaha zikran katheera" (Remember Allah very much). In Hadith it is reported by Hazrat Abu Hurairah radiallaho ta'ala anhu that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "There is no gathering that sits to remember Allah Ta'ala, but that the Angles surround them, mercy covers them, they receive great bounties and Allah Ta'ala remembers them amongst His close Angels."
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! The word "Zikr" means "to remember" "to remind", "to always remember", and to "mention often" etc.
All lawful things should begin with the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala and we should always remember that whatever we are doing, He is watching. Contemplate on the Hadith of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam and be joyful of the great favour Allah Ta'ala has bestowed on us. The condition of this is that we must remember Him at all times, with our tongues, with our hearts, and with our actions. Angels surround those that remember Him, and they are guarded against the mischief of humans and jinn's. The Mercy of Allah Ta'ala shades them, which frees them from all trials and tribulations of this world and the hereafter. Blessings descend on them, which gives them peace of mind and heart.
By remembering Him constantly, we should aim to spread His remembrance and mention Him often. May Allah Ta'ala guide us all to spend our time in His remembrance. Aameen
Earn 1000 Rewards Daily
Hazrat Sa'd Ibn Abi Waqas radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrates that we were in the court of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam. The Beloved of Allah Ta'ala asked, "Which one of you desires to earn 1000 rewards daily?" Someone asked, "How?" Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam replied, "Recite Subhan Allah 100 times. You will receive 1000 rewards and 1000 sins will be forgiven." (Muslim)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! To earn 1000 rewards daily is very difficult, outside our capabilities. This is true for most people. However those that are close to Allah Ta'ala spend each second of the day earning rewards. It is the grace of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam that he has shown us how to obtain many rewards with little time and effort. And not just rewards, but 1000 sins are also forgiven. If, even after this, we do not remember Allah Ta'ala, then how unfortunate we are. Recite Subhan Allah Wa Beham Dehee at least 100 times in a day. May Allah Ta'ala give us the guidance to remember Him. Aameen.
Unimaginable Grace of The Creator
Hazrat Abu Zar radiallaho ta'ala anhu reports that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "Allah Ta'ala says that whoever does one good deed his reward is ten-fold, and I may give more than that. Whoever commits one sin, one sin is written or I may forgive it. Whoever comes towards me an inch, I move one yard closer to him. Whoever moves one yard towards me, I move one Ba'* closer to him. Whoever comes walking towards me, I run towards him. Whoever does not associate partners with Me, then meets Me having committed sins equal to the earth, then I will meet him with an equal amount of forgiveness."
That is to say, for one good deed, our Lord will give us ten times the reward. In other instances it will be multiplied limitlessly by His grace and blessings, the quantity of which we can not even comprehend. Remember ten rewards for one deed is in normal situations, just as Allah Ta'ala has said in the Holy Qur'an "man jaa a bil hasanate falaho ashro amthaa leha"(whoever brings one good deed, for him the like is ten times). Sometimes due to importance or the time and place of worship this reward is multiplied 700 times, 50,000 times, 100,000 times or even more. Just like one good deed in Madinah Munawwara is equivalent to 50,000, and in Makkah Mukarrama one good deed is equivalent to 100,000 deeds anywhere else. With respect to sins, in normal situations, one sin committed by a believer is written as one and that may be forgiven by the grace of Almighty Allah Ta'ala should he so wish. Subhan Allah, what can be said about the unimaginable Mercies of the Merciful One.
*When we stretch our arms out away from our bodies, the distance from the tips of the left hand fingers to the tips of the right fingers is called a Ba'.
In the previous Hadith these lengths have been used as examples to show us that if we do a little worship with sincerity and with the aim to get close to Allah Ta'ala, then His Favour & Mercy gets much, much closer to us. Therefore do good deeds; do not think of it as small or insignificant. Our deeds may not be worthy of earning closeness to Allah Ta'ala quickly, but Allah Ta'ala is able to give us closeness to Him if He so pleases. This is solely based on the Mercy of our Lord, otherwise what is the value of our deeds? If a believer does not associate partners, stays away from infidelity and polytheism, then regardless of how many sins he has committed, My Lord will sooner or later forgive him. If He so desires, He can forgive without any punishment, or can forgive after some punishment. The point is that no one, no matter how big a sinner he is, should despair.
Have faith in the Mercy of Allah Ta'ala and repent. Allah Ta'ala is the Forgiving, Merciful One. With His grace and through the sadqa of his Beloved he will forgive.
Better Deed Than Giving Gold and Silver In Charity
Hazrat Abu Dardah radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrates that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "Should I not tell you of a deed that is very clean and will raise your status greatly. It is better for you than giving gold and silver in charity, and is better than if you wage holy war against the enemies and you strike them and they make you martyrs?" The companions replied, "Yes, please tell us." The Beloved of Allah Ta'ala stated, "That deed is the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala." (Ahmed, Tirmizi, Mir'aat)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! Our Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam has given solace to the poor in the previous Hadith. He has given them comfort in that the rich have gold and silver to give in charity, and definitely, if they are sincere they will be rewarded. However if a poor person wants that same reward do not be disheartened. Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam stated that the rich have gold & silver but do not think that there can be nothing better than that.
Therefore Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said that there is something even better than that, and that is the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala. Oh poor people, do not think that the rich will give from their wealth and get ahead in deeds and rewards, no! You remember Allah Ta'ala and that is even better and more rewarding. The holy war (jihad) that is mentioned here is that which is fought without the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala. That holy war where the sword of Islam is in the hand and the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala is on the tongues, this holy war is beyond comparison and has immense blessings and rewards. May Allah Ta'ala always give us the guidance to remember Him. Aameen
Which Deed is the Best?
Hazrat Abdullah Bin Bushar radiallaho ta'ala anhu states that a person came to Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam and asked, "Which person is the best?" The Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam replied, "Glad tidings for him who has a long life and his deeds are good." The person then enquired, "Which deed is the best?" Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam replied "Leave this world in the state that your tongue is moist with the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala." (Ahmed, Tirmizi, Mir'aat)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! May Allah Ta'ala bless us all with long lives and full of good deeds so that we may be included amongst the good people. May our tongues be moist with the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala as we leave this world.
"Moist" means that at the time of death, the name of Allah Ta'ala comes easily on our lips and tongues. Just like fire can not burn a moist piece of wood, similarly the fire of hell will not burn a tongue moist with the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala, Insha Allah. We see from this that we should remember Allah Ta'ala with our tongues (loudly), and not just remember Him in our minds or hearts. There is a Hadith in Tibraani that says that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "Remember Allah Ta'ala besides all dry and wet things so that they will testify to your faith." Subhan Allah. May Allah Ta'ala give us all the guidance to always remember Him. Aameen
Go Through The Flower Beds of Paradise
Hazrat Anas radiallaho ta'ala anhu states Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "Each time you walk through the flower beds of paradise, then choose something." People asked, "What are the flower beds of paradise?" Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam replied, "circles of the remembrance of Allah." (Zikr key Halqey) (Mir'aat, 317)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! Allah Ta'ala's Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam has called the gatherings of remembrance as the flowerbeds of paradise. After hearing this, there can be very few believers who would not search for the flowerbeds of paradise. When you find the flowerbed of paradise, then make sure that you obtain something from that, and that means remember Allah Ta'ala. Some things that we can see form the previous hadith is that one should go to gatherings of the remembrance of Allah ta'ala, sit in circles (halqey) of remembrance of Allah Ta'ala, organise gatherings of Milad, (where Allah Ta'ala is glorified and his Beloved is remembered). Remembrance of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam is also remembrance of Allah Ta'ala, "Wara Fa'Na Laka Zikrak" (and We have exalted for you your remembrance). Therefore search out these pure gatherings and participate in them and make our hereafter more successful.
Stay busy in search of the circles of remembrance because to remember Allah Ta'ala in a group is more beneficial that remembering Him alone. If one person's remembrance is accepted than through his blessings everyone's remembrance will be accepted by Allah Ta'ala. May Allah Ta'ala guide us all. Aameen
The Best Words
Hazrat Samurah Bin Jundub radiallaho ta'ala anho narrates that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam stated, "There are four phrases that are the most outstanding. They are Subhan Allah, Alhamdo Lillah, Laa Ilaha Illal Laah and Allah O Akbar" In one narration it states that, "Allah Ta'ala prefers 4 phrases, Subhan Allah, Alhamdo Lillah, Laa Ilaha Illal Laah and Allah O Akbar. It does not matter which one you start with" (Muslim)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! Rosary (tasbeeh) means to know that Allah Ta'ala is free from all faults and defects, or to proclaim His Purity. Those that recite the Names of Allah Ta'ala the brilliance of those names shines on them. He who constantly recites Subhan Allah, Insha Allah this person will begin to become pure himself. The rosary (tasbeeh) is a very exalted remembrance. That is why we begin salah with Subhanakal Lahumma. In bowing (ruk'u) we say Subhana Rabbiyal Azeem, in prostration (sajda) we say Subhana Rabbiyal A'la and whenever we see anything amazing we say Subhan Allah
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam has stated that the previously stated four phrases are the most excellent, most prominent, the best phrases because in them there is great praise of Allah Ta'ala. Subhan Allah means that Allah Ta'ala is pure from all defects. Alhamdo Lillah means all praise is for Allah Ta'ala, which is the culmination of all attributes. La Ilaha Illal Laah is that phrase by which a person becomes a Muslim when he recites it. Allah O Akbar means Allah Ta'ala is the biggest and best. In other words by saying this the recitor is proclaiming the superiority of Allah Ta'ala over everything and everybody. These phrases are an accumulation of the attributes of Allah Ta'ala. May Allah Ta'ala through the sadqa of His Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam guide us to always recite these phrases. Aameen
Tree In Paradise
Hazrat Jaabir radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrates that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "Whoever recites Subhan Allahil Azeem WaBehamdehee, a tree is planted in paradise for him." (Tirmizi)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! May we be sacrificed on the Mercies of Allah Ta'ala. Just by reciting Subhan Allahil Azeem WaBehamdehee one time a tree is planted for us in paradise. A tree is planted because a tree gives many benefits to mankind. Sometimes it is used for shade, sometimes for fruit. Some trees give foods from which we gain satisfaction.
The best fruit is the date, which is very beneficial and healthy. In the Hadith the tree that is mentioned is "nakhlah" and this is the date tree. One of the benefits of this rosary is that whoever recites it three times in the morning will be free from leprosy and insanity. May Allah Ta'ala with His Grace guide us to recite Subhan Allahil Azeem WaBehamdehee abundantly and reward us greatly with His Grace. Aameen
100 Sins Will be Forgiven
Hazrat Abu Hurairah radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrates that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "Whoever recites Laa Ilaha Illal Laah Wahdahu Laa Shareeka Lahul Mulko Walahul Hamdo Wahuwa Alaa Kulley Shay in Qadeer 100 times in a day, it is as though he freed ten slaves. One hundred rewards are also written for him and 100 sins are forgiven and all day he will be free from the devil (shaitaan) until he gets to the evening. No one will be able to do an better deed than him unless someone recites this more than him."
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! Our book of deeds are full of sins. It is the grace of Allah Ta'ala that by reciting a small number of words he is forgiving many, many of our sins. Not only that but He is rewarding us greatly as well, and giving us freedom from the devil for the day. In the hadith freedom from the devil is during the day, and this is because we are awake during the day, when we are awake the devil tempts us the most and therefore freedom during the day is mentioned. The zikr mentioned in the Hadith can be recited at any time, but it is more beneficial to recite in the morning so that we can be free from the temptations of the devil for the day. 100 times has been mentioned in the hadith, if we can recite more then we will receive more rewards. May Allah Ta'ala through the sadqa of His Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam guide us towards rewards and good deeds and save us from the attempts of the devil. Aameen
The Angels Rosary (Tasbeeh)
Hazrat Abu Zar radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrates that Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam was asked, "Which words are the best?" Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam replied, "Those words that Allah Ta'ala has chosen for his angels, Subhan Allahi WaBehamdehee." (Muslim Shareef)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! We are told in this hadith that this is the rosary (tasbeeh) of the angels. In other words, they are constantly reciting this. They recite this on the command and teaching of Allah Ta'ala and that is why these words are very blessed.
This hadith also shows us the high and exalted status of our Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam in that he is aware of the worship of angels, and is aware of the condition of those that are in the heavens. We should think and realise that if the Prophet is aware of the condition of the creatures in the heavens, how would he not be aware of the conditions of the creatures on the earth? Therefore do these beautiful deeds so that it pleases our Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam. May Allah Ta'ala give us the guidance to recite the rosary of the angels. Aameen
One of the Treasures of Paradise
Hazrat Abu Musa Ash'ari radiallaho ta'ala anhu reports that we were with Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam on a journey and people started reciting takbeer (Allah O Akbar) very loudly. Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "Oh people, be soft on your bodies, you are not calling on one that is deaf nor are you calling one who is not present. You are calling on one who Hears and Sees all and He is with you. The One whom you are calling is closer to you than the necks of your mounts (horse or camel)." Hazrat Abu Musa Ash'ari radiallaho ta'ala anhu says that I was behind Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam, and I was saying in my mind "La Hawla Wala Quwwata Illa Bil Laah" Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said, "Oh Abdullah Bin Qais, should I not give you one of the treasures of paradise?" I replied, "Yes Yaa Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam." My Master said, "La Hawla Wala Quwwata Illa Bil Laah" (Bukhari, Muslim)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! The reason Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam stopped them from reciting loudly was not because it is not allowed to recite takbeer loudly. It was because during the journey, reciting it loudly was causing hardship and pain. That is why Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam said be soft on your bodies and it is stated that this journey was to the Battle of Khaibar. Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam and the companions were going to free the fort of Khaibar and Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam desired that they should arrive at Khaibar unexpectedly. People should not know about this expedition so that the enemies were not able to make any preparations and very little blood would be spilt and the Muslims would be victorious.
With the loud chanting this aim would have been defeated. On many other occasions the companions, and even Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam himself used to remember Allah Ta'ala in a loud voice. In the congregation they would do zikr aloud after salah.
Hazrat Abu Musa Ash'ari radiallaho ta'ala anhu was reciting La Hawla Wala Quwwata Illa Bil Laah in his mind and the Prophet who told of the unseen was aware of his thoughts, and stated that this is one of the treasures of paradise. When a person recites this, he is stating his helplessness and accepting the Might and Power of Allah Ta'ala.
This is the basis of worship. Hawla means the apparent and obvious strength that we can see, and Quwwata is the hidden Might of Allah Ta'ala. In other words, without the help of Allah Ta'ala, there is no apparent strength or hidden might. Without the grace of Allah Ta'ala a person can not stay away from sins and can not obtain rewards by doing good deeds. Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam described these words as a treasure of paradise because these words are the means by which to obtain all the blessed treasures of paradise.
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved admirers, through the blessings of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam, we have received a treasure of paradise. Value this treasure and to value it means that recite it abundantly. May Allah Ta'ala guide us all. Aameen
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved admirers, whenever we start anything, we should begin by praising and glorifying Allah Ta'ala completely and Insha Allah that task or work will be completed successfully. When a person does not forget his Lord when beginning anything, Allah Ta'ala will ensure that his lawful work is completed easily and successfully. It has also been stated in hadith shareef that at the time of any difficulty, big or small, easy or hard, we should recite Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilayhe Raaje-oon. This is a blessed sunnah of my Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam. And is has also been reported that on receiving any blessing we should say Alhamdo Lillah. This is to show our gratitude so that Allah Ta'ala is pleased and grants us more blessings. Also it has been stated that on committing any sin we should recite Astagferullah. The slaves of Allah Ta'ala are being given comfort in that if you fall into the trap of sins, then have faith in the Mercy of The Merciful, The Forgiving One. He forgives His slaves and is the Most Benevolent. Repent with a true heart and he will forgive your sins. May Allah Ta'ala forgive all of us and guide us all. Aameen
Reward of Patience
It is reported in Ahmed and in Baihiqi that Hazrat Imam Hussein radiallaho ta'ala anhu narrated that when you remember previous difficulties you should recite Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilayhe Raaje-oon. You will receive the reward of patience.
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved admirers, humans are unable to forget moments of happiness or times of grief. He remembers the good times and the bad times. Therefore whenever you remember the happiness recite Alhamdo Lillah and when you remember any sadness or grief from the past then recite Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilayhe Raaje-oon. Insha Allah the reward of patience will be bestowed by Allah Ta'ala. The reward of patience is immense and can not be comprehended. May Allah Ta'ala give us the guidance to be patient and to remember him at all times. Aameen
Unique Way To Remember Allah Ta'ala During Difficulties
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! This world is a house of difficulties. People have to face many difficulties in this world, big, small, many different adversities and troubles. May we be sacrificed on the grace of our Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam in that he gave us the cure for all problems, from the smallest to the largest. If only we act upon these teachings and gain freedom from adversities.
"When the lamp would go out, when a nail would break, when a thorn would get stuck in the Blessed hand, Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam would recite Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilayhe Raaje-oon and stated this is also an adversity. The companions said, "Yaa Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam, this is a minor thing." Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam replied, "Sometimes minor things become major things" (Dur E Mansoor, Azeezi, etc)
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! Just think, if the light goes out in our house, then many unmentionable phrases come out of our mouths but even at that time we have been told what words should be on our lips. Instead of wrong words being uttered we should recite Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilayhe Raaje-oon as this is the Sunnah of our Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam. Similarly even when our shoelace breaks or rips; instead of saying any words that displeases Allah Ta'ala we should say Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilayhe Raaje-oon as to recite this on this occasion is also a blessed sunnah of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam. Also to recite Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilayhe Raaje-oon if a thorn gets stuck in our hand is also a blessed sunnah. May Allah Ta'ala give us the guidance to act upon the blessed Sunnahs of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam. Aameen
Insha Allah you will be told of many more benefits of reciting Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilayhe Raaje-oon later on.
House In Paradise
It is reported in Baihiqi "That whoever does 4 things, his abode (house) will be in paradise. 1) Request from Allah Ta'ala for all things. 2) In any adversity or difficulty recite Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilayhe Raaje-oon. 3) Upon receiving any blessing say Alhamdo Lillah. 4) When any sin is committed recite Astagferullah."
Hadith-It is reported by Hazrat Ibn Umar radiallaho ta'ala anhuma that Subhan Allah is the worship of all the creations. Alhamdo Lillah are the words of thanks. Laa Ilaha Illal Laah are the words of sincerity and Allah O Akbar fills the gap between the earth and the skies. When e person recites Laa Hawla Wala Quwwata Illa Billah then Allah Ta'ala states, "My bondman has become obedient and has given himself to Me"
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! All the creations of Allah Ta'ala constantly remember Him. Allah Ta'ala himself says "Wa Immin Shayin Illa Yusabbeho Behamdehee" The reality is that all things believe in Allah Ta'ala and have faith in Him and remember him constantly. The friends of Allah Ta'ala hear this remembrance. The companions of Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam used to hear the morsels of food praising Allah Ta'ala. The remembrance of a green plant reduces the punishment of the grave. Therefore recite Subhan Allah and join in with the various creation of Allah Ta'ala in worshipping Him. Alhamdo Lillah is the word of thanks, therefore recite it and show your gratitude to Allah Ta'ala.
It's been reported that when Laa Ilaha Illal Laah is mentioned it means the whole Kalima. This Kalima is called the words of sincerity and with the blessings of this we will have freedom from infidelity in this world and freedom from the fire in the hereafter. Allah O Akbar fills the gap between the earth and the sky. This is given as an example to us because our limited vision can only see to the sky. In actual fact the distance between the earth and the sky is nothing compared to the Magnificence of Allah Ta'ala. His keeping is not limited to just between the earth and the sky. Whoever recites Laa Hawla Wala Quwwata Illa Billah , he has become obedient to Allah Ta'ala and has given himself to His Lord, Subhan Allah. When Allah Ta'ala states that this person is obedient to Me and is in my protection then how can any troubles of this world reach him?
Therefore My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved admirers, keep these words on your tongues and earn rewards and become obedient to Allah Ta'ala. May Allah Ta'ala give us the guidance to keep our tongues moist with His remembrance. Aameen
Shaitaan Runs Away From The House
It is reported in Hadith that by "Reciting Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilayhe Raaje-oon shaitaan becomes dejected and he is forced to run away from that place. If we wail and cry loudly then shaitaan also joins us."
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! The previous Hadith refers to times of grief. When a person is overcome with grief, especially at the time of someone's death, many women and men wail, lament and cry out loud. They do not realise that by expressing their grief in this manner, they are accompanied by shaitaan. Therefore if you desire that shaitaan runs away and does not accompany you, then at times of grief, instead of wailing and crying loudly recite Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilayhe Raaje-oon. Insha Allah the grief will be eased and you will gain reward of the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala. May Allah Ta'ala guide us all to goodness and rewards. Aameen
Result of Forgetting To Remember Allah Ta'ala
After reading about the importance and benefits of the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala, let us see briefly what the results of forgetting to remember Him are. What happens to those that turn away from His remembrance and drown themselves in the pleasures of this world? Far from acting upon the shariah, these people never have the name of Allah Ta'ala and His Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam on their lips. If only they would read the commands of Allah Ta'ala and Rasool Allah sallalaho alaihe wasallam, repent and remove the darkness of sins from their hearts, which can be done by remembering Allah Ta'ala. In a few, short days, their hearts would glow and they will find themselves obeying the commands of Islam.
In mentioning the state of the hypocrites (Munafiqs), Allah Ta'ala says that one of their faults is that they very rarely remember Allah Ta'ala. He Says, "Undoubtedly the hypocrites are likely to deceive Allah in their own conjecture and it is He who will kill them making them negligent, and when they stand up for prayer, they stand up with a defeated soul (lazily) making a show to the people, and remember Allah not, but a little." (Surah Nis'a, verse 142)
Those people that hear the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala and still do not go towards it are completely misguided. There is a valley of ruin and punishment for such people, in the world and the hereafter. They are so busy in enjoying the pleasures and temptations of this world that they do not have the time to attend the gatherings where Allah Ta'ala is remembered. If a Muballig (envoy) invites these people to a gathering of remembrance, or advises them to repent and remember Allah Ta'ala, they refuse his invitation in a very arrogant and stern manner. The reality is that because of the lack of remembrance of Allah Ta'ala, their hearts have died and their homes are like graveyards. Allah Ta'ala's curse is raining down on their work and they are always in all difficulty, always restless, but not willing to listen to the advice of one who is trying to help them.
Such people should pay attention to the verse of the Qur'an quoted above and seek forgiveness for forgetting the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala.
Allah Ta'ala says in the Holy Qur'an, "Those that turn their faces away from the remembrance of the Merciful One, We impose a shaitaan on him who becomes his companion."
My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved devotees! The reason shaitaan is easily able to lead Muslims astray is because we are negligent and have forgotten the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala. My Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam's beloved admirers, do you want shaitaan to be your associate? Definitely not. Then for the sake of Allah Ta'ala, do not remain far from the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala, so that on the day of judgement we will have the company of the beloved friends of Allah Ta'ala. Those that have the company of the beloved friends of Allah Ta'ala will be successful in this world and the hereafter. Insha Allah.
May Allah Ta'ala give us all the guidance and the ability to remember Him at all times through the blessings of His Beloved Prophet sallalaho alaihe wasallam. Aameen
Shaitaan as a Companion
Allah Ta'ala says in the Holy Qur'an, "Shatiaan (the devil) has got control over them and has made them forget the remembrance of Allah. They are the party of shaitaan. Do you hear? Undoubtedly, it is the party of shaitaan that are the losers." ( Surah Mujadilah, verse 19)
"And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will make him join a rising torment." (Surah Jinn, v.17)
