Stop everything at adhaan

Stop everything at adhaan

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

The statement: The Holy Prophet (SAW) said, Stop doing everything during the Azaan, even reading the Quran, the person who talks during the Azaan will not be able to say the Kalima E Shahada on his/her death bed.... Please pass this message to Muslims
To the best of our knowledge we have not come across or found such a narration from the Prophet (saws) in the recorded authentic and established Sunnah. One should be extremely carefully when quoting or attributing something to the Noble Messenger of Allah (saws), and quote only those statements or deeds which are considered absolutely authentic, for ascribing a false thing to the Messenger of Allah (saws) is a grave sin in Islam.

The person who attributed these statements to the Messenger of Allah (saws) should be asked to provide his evidence from the authentic and established records of Sunnah. If the person provides the evidence, one should accept it; and if the person is unable to provide his evidence, one should know with absolute conviction that the statements are figments of someone's imagination and have absolutely no basis or relevance with the Truth and Guidance of Islam.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 2.378 Narrated by Al Mughira
I heard the Prophet (saws) saying, "Ascribing false things to me is not like ascribing false things to anyone else. Whosoever tells a lie against me intentionally then surely let him occupy his seat in Hell-Fire."

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 1.109 Narrated by Salama
I heard the Prophet (saws) saying, "Whoever (intentionally) ascribes to me what I have not said then (surely) let him occupy his seat in Hell-fire."

The 'adhaan' in Islam is but a signal or a public announcement made as a proclamation to all those who hear it that the time to offer the prescribed obligatory prayer of the day or night is now due.

Al-Muwatta Hadith Hadith 3.2
Yahya related from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Ata ibn Yazid al-Laythi from Abu Said al-Khudri that the Messenger of Allah (saws) said, "When you hear the 'adhaan', repeat what the muadhdhin says."

Mu'adh at-Jahni related that the Prophet (saws) said, "It is the utmost apathy and sign of disbelief and hypocrisy that one who hears the 'adhaan' does not respond (by attending the congregational prayer)."
Related by Ahmad and at-Tabarani.

The absolute majority of the scholars in Islam are of the opinion that when one hears the 'adhaan' or call to prayer, it is a preferred Sunnah to listen attentively to the phrases declared in the 'adhaan', repeat the phrases declared by the 'muaddhin' (caller), and the believing males should respond to the call by hastening to make arrangements to attend the prayer in congregation.

If one is reciting the Glorious Quran, or praising or extolling the Lord, or making supplications, or doing any act of Remembrance, etc., it is indeed highly recommended and preferred that one temporarily stop their deeds of Remembrance and listen to and repeat the declaration of the 'adhaan' made by the Muaddhin.

But to the best of our knowledge, we have not come across or found a specific guidance of the Prophet (saws) in the authentic or established Sunnah where the Prophet (saws) commanded or guided the believers to stop doing everything during the declaration of the 'adhaan', or the warning that one who talks during the declaration of the 'adhaan' will not be able to say the 'shahaadah' at their death beds! And Allah Alone Knows Best.

Ibn Masud (r.a.) reports that the Prophet (saws) said: "None of you should let Bilal's declaration of the 'adhaan' prevent you from the pre-dawn (suhoor) meal, as he is making the 'adhaan' for those who are praying (tahajjud or nafl prayers) to stop, and for those who are sleeping to get up."
Related by Ahmad.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah's Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
