To: Muslims around the world
Muslims around the world are deeply disappointed and resent the conferment of knighthood on writer Salman Rushdie by the UK Government.

We deplore and regret this truly irrational decision by the government of the United Kingdom as it has negated the objective of building a trusty relationship between civilizations and shows an utter lack of sensitivity.

This decision was certainly not expected from the British Government as it has incited unnecessary feelings of discrimination against the Muslim Community.

Salman Rushdie is a notorious writer who is more of a hated figure around the Muslim world for the insulting and vilifying manner in which he portrays Islam and its esteemed figures. He is known less for his literary contributions and more for his offensive writings which have deeply hurt Muslim sentiments around the world.

This decision of knighting him can only do further harm to Britain 's image in the Muslim world. Needless to say, this is certainly not the way to win the hearts and minds of billions of Muslims around the world.

The author of this petition urges all his brothers and sisters in the Muslim world to sign it and declare their utter disgust and resentment over the decision of knighting Salman Rushdie, which we feel is truly provocative and insidious in nature.

We also urge the British Government to reconsider its decision and strip Salman Rushdie of his knighthood title.
