Medical Guidence: To lose weight, calories, etc!

What is more useful WALKING or JOGGING??

The Statement :
U burn more calories jogging 1 mile than walking the same distance.

False : You expend the same amount of energy whether you walk or jog a mile. Since in both cases you are moving the same weight the same
distance, the speed doesn't matter. Ofcourse, If you jog rather than walk for30 minutes, you'll cover more distance & consequently burn more calories.

Work up a good sweat?..... Not necessary

The Statement :
To lose weight, U should always 'work up a good sweat" when
excercising.

False : Sweating merely lowers body temperature to prevent overheating; it does not help u reduce. You may weigh less immideatly after a work out, but this is due to water loss. Replace the lost liquid & U replace the weight.

Reduce Midsection.....

The Statement :
The Best way to reduce the midsection (waist) is to do Abdominal excercise.

FALSE : Many people believe that when muscles are excercised, the fatty tissues in theimmideate area are "burned up." In other words, if you bend the waist enough, U'll trim down ur midsection.

Several years ago, however, doctors studied a number of active tennis
players to see if the "spot" theory of fat reduction was fact. The
doctor found the muscles of their playing arms more developed; but the amount of fat was the same on both arms for all subjects.

The Conclusion: Excercise burns fat from all over the body & not from one specific area regardless of the type of excercise. It is thus impossible to reduce the amount of fat in a particular area without affecting the amount in other parts of the body.

But don't lose heart. If by diet & excercise you reduce the fat
throughout the body, U'll certainly see results around your waist line.
