Comments on Oaths, Quran, Diabetes & Niqab

Breaking an oath:
From: "shahidahmed47"

You should feed and/or clothe 10 poor people, the same way you would
feed and/or clothe your family, or give freedom to a slave (more
difficult to do in this day and age as slavery is thankfully nearly
gone). If you cannot do this then you should fast for 3 days. And
Allah knows best.

Recitation of Quran in English
From: "a_nidea"

The famous companion Salman al-Farsi was noted for teaching the Quran
(specifically surah al Fatiha to start with) to new Muslims in
Persian/ Farsi. He did this because they did not know Arabic. Until
such time as you have learned Arabic, recite the Quran in whatever language you are able to so you can benefit from
its meaning, otherwise you end up becoming like the person mentioned
in the hadith who wil be asked on the day of judgment about the things you said (i.e. the prayers you made) and the answer in the hadith is that you will say that you didn't know what you wer esaying but were copying what other people were telling you to say, and and Allah knows best.

Insulin and Diabetes
From: "tenderheart201"

By virtue of an illness being an illness you do not have to fast - one of the conditions of fasting is that you have good health.
If you are able to restrcict or control your food intake, and take your medicine at the same time, then do your best, but do not compromise your health as that is like doing something forbidden (i.e. damage your health) to do something good (i.e. fast).

Niqaab problems
From: "selsebil9"

Living in he house in seclusion is not Islamic. The wives of
the Prophet and the early Muslim women were dymanic, engaged
themselves in all aspects of life, traveled outside of their home,
would work, even socialise in the mosque. Just to give you one (of
many) examples:

Umm Subayya said that during the time of Prophet Muhammad, the rule of Caliph Abu Bakr and the rule of Caliph Umar the women would socialise in the mosque. Remember the mosque was the center of activity, people used to do almost everything in the mosque.

The people who suggest women should stay at home, be isolated, etc to
me, have no understanding of Islam, the history of the Muslim people
proves this, and may Allah protect us form those who corrupt or abuse
faith by misquoting history to deny half of humanity their right to a
public life.

My advice, change your lifestyle, its not Islamic even though certain
people and their confused opinions seem to think so, and may Allah
keep us safe from such people, amen.

Comment on Satan/ Jinn/ Iblis etc
In addition to what Dina and Hadija wrote:

In the Arabic language, Shaytan is derived from Shatana which means
'the far thing'. Hence Shaytan (Satan/Iblis/Devil/ etc) has a
different nature to that of mankind, and his sinful ways are far away
from everytype of righteousness. [It was also said that Shaytan is
derived from Shata (burned), because shaytan was created from fire. It
is important to note that Shaytan was one of the Jinn which went
astray, all Jinn are made from a smokeless flame, a type of fire]
